Polar Bear Range
On the whole polar bear range, hunting babies and pregnant females is strictly banned.
These animals are the largest land predators. They weigh 600 to 1.100 pounds and are completely furred. Only their nose and footpads are bare. They have a dense, woolly insulating layer of under hair, which is covered by a relatively thin layer of thick, shiny, clear guard hairs.
On the whole polar bear range, hunting babies and pregnant females is strictly banned.

The coat of these animals is oily and water proved. They can easily shake their coat free of water and any ice that may form after swimming. The hairs reflect light, giving a polar bear its white coloration. Their bodies contain heat so well that heat- sensitive cameras can't detect a slipping animal on the ice. On the whole polar bear range, hunting babies and pregnant females is strictly banned.
